Hillsdale Nazarene Church
HILLSDALE With a motto of less of me and more of thee, the Rev. Mike Prince, the new pastor at the Hillsdale Nazarene Church, has a mission of service to others.
Letting people know they are loved is whats needed the most in this world, Prince said, noting that while losing weight has helped him with his own health, the spiritual health of others is where his focus is.
Pastor Mike has been in ministry most of his life. He grew up attending Hartford First Church of the Nazarene and worked there as a youth pastor. He grew up in a large family which are all gone now except for his oldest brother Paul, who serves as a pastor in the Newport (Vermont) Church of the Nazarene.
He attended Olivet Nazarene University where he met his wife, Kristine, and theyve been married 36 years. Though they have no children, they have a dog named Buster, which is part Poodle and Shih Tzu.
Kris Prince plays the piano and has been active with Nazarene Missions International, just resigning as the NMI District secretary.
She truly enjoys serving Jesus as the recording NMI secretary, he said. She is the spitting image of what Gods love is all about. She is my rock!
Pastor Mikes combined pastoral service in the church of the Nazarene is about 26 years. And out of those many years, he has worked for hospice while pastoring at the same time for 15 of those years.
Pastor Mike was the vice president of the Shiawassee Hospice House in Owosso, and has been serving as a president of the Corunna Ministerial Association.
He likes childrens ministry and the idea of being able to deal with college students appeals to him with the proximity of Hillsdale College to the Nazarene Church.
He enjoys sports, particularly MSU events, and loves to play and write music on his guitar. His life is spent in encouraging and loving people into the Kingdom of God.
My main ministry is in evangelism and outreach, he said. If were not taking care of the widows, the poor and the children, then thats what were here for and what we should be doing. I focus on visiting these and being involved in the community.
